Russian troops have carried out another targeted attack using an attack drone on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. The enemy targeted a stationary branch of the national postal service Ukrposhta in Mykolaiv. The incident caused significant resonance, forcing the company's management to publicly break the usual strategy of information silence regarding damage to logistics network facilities.
Attack Details and Staff's Prompt Response
The attack was reported by the CEO of the joint-stock company, Igor Smilyansky, via his official Telegram channel. According to him, the enemy UAV detonated directly behind the post office building. The powerful blast wave and shrapnel caused serious material damage to the building's structure, but employees and customers inside miraculously escaped direct injury.Despite the difficult operational environment, the staff demonstrated a high level of professionalism and training. Immediately after the explosion, a casual passerby who had sustained severe shrapnel wounds ran into the post office premises. The branch employees immediately provided the victim with necessary pre-medical aid, stopped the bleeding, and promptly called an ambulance crew.
Importance of Infrastructure Operations During Air Raids
As the company head emphasized, the decision to keep branches operating during the "yellow" alert was fully justified. Open doors and the presence of trained personnel allowed not only to ensure the uninterrupted provision of basic services to the population but also to save a human life by providing timely shelter and medical care to the wounded citizen. It is worth noting that this is far from the first case of targeted destruction of Ukrposhta's logistics infrastructure by Russian forces. Similar incidents were previously recorded in other regions of Ukraine. Thus, on September 20, an enemy drone attacked a mobile post office in the Sumy region, injuring two employees, and on August 25, the invaders twice shelled the post office's infrastructure and service transport in Mena, Chernihiv region.
Recovery Works and Prospects
Despite the damage to the facade and interior premises of the Mykolaiv branch, the company's management has already begun eliminating the consequences of the shelling. According to Igor Smilyansky's assurances, repair work will be completed in the shortest possible time, after which the branch will resume full-fledged service to local residents in normal mode.
