The mobile device market is preparing for an unexpected turn. Samsung, known for its strict model hierarchy, plans to release an atypical update for the mid-range segment. The new Galaxy M67 will receive a processor previously considered the exclusive domain of premium flagships.
According to data published by RBK-Ukraine citing the GeekBench Browser database, the heart of the future smartphone will be the Exynos 2200 chip. This 4-nanometer processor was previously installed in the prestigious Galaxy S22 series, making its appearance in the Galaxy M lineup a real surprise for the industry.
Graphic breakthrough in the mid-range segment
The key advantage of the Exynos 2200 is its Samsung Xclipse 920 graphics subsystem. Built on the AMD RDNA2 architecture, it became the world's first mobile solution with hardware ray tracing support.
For users, this means a qualitative leap in visual perception. The Galaxy M67 will be able to offer a level of graphical effects in games unavailable to most competitors in this price range. Ray tracing technology will allow for realistic lighting and shadows, bringing mobile gaming closer to console levels.
Performance tests: old cores vs. new
Geekbench 6 test results are already available and demonstrate an interesting performance dynamic. For comparison, engineers compared the Exynos 2200 metrics with the more modern Exynos 1680 processor, which is integrated into the Galaxy A57 model.
The obtained data looks ambiguous and highlights the architectural features of the chips:
- In the single-core test, the old flagship chip confidently outperforms the newcomer by 21.2%. This advantage is provided by the powerful main Cortex-X2 core with a frequency of 2.8 GHz.
- In multi-core mode, the situation changes: the Exynos 2200 lags behind by 10.2%. The reason lies in the outdated architecture of the energy-efficient cores, which cannot handle the load as effectively as in modern solutions.
Paradigm shift for the Galaxy M series
Traditionally, Galaxy M series devices were positioned as slightly modified versions of the Galaxy A lineup models, but with increased battery capacity. However, the Galaxy M67 will be an exception to this rule, offering unique hardware.
The tested smartphone specimen is equipped with 8 GB of RAM in the base version. Moreover, the device will hit the market running the latest Android 17 operating system, guaranteeing software relevance at the time of release.
The exact presentation date and cost of the smartphone remain a secret for now. Nevertheless, the appearance of detailed test results in the Geekbench database indicates that the official device announcement will take place within the next few weeks.
