South Korean giant Samsung has officially launched a massive teaser campaign confirming radical changes in the design of the upcoming foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Alongside the launch of promo videos, the manufacturer took an unusual step — completely clearing its Instagram pages, creating intrigue ahead of the official announcement.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the company's official social media, the marketing strategy revolves around the concept of transforming familiar shapes. The promo videos demonstrate how elongated objects — a chocolate bar, a puzzle, or a photo box — are trimmed from the top, transforming into wider, more compact rectangles. One of the clips ends with the signature logo featuring the number '8' and the slogan: 'Bold Step. New Form'.

The End of the Era of Narrow Foldable Smartphones

The campaign fully confirms numerous insider rumors circulating online. The main focus is on changing the proportions of the base model. Instead of the inconvenient narrow outer display, which users have criticized for years for being impractical, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature dimensions closer to classic smartphones or the size of a passport.

This decision radically changes the user experience:

  • Convenience in closed state. Thanks to the wider body, the outer screen can be used like a regular mobile phone, eliminating excessive elongation.
  • Cinema effect inside. When unfolded, the inner display will approach a landscape aspect ratio. This will significantly improve comfort when watching videos, working with documents, and running two apps simultaneously.

Splitting the Lineup: Standard and Ultra

An important innovation will be the division of the lineup into two models. Since the base Galaxy Z Fold 8 will become wider, it will receive slightly simplified specifications, specifically a dual camera instead of a triple one. The traditional proportions of the previous generation and maximum specifications will move to the new premium model — the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

The technical foundation for both devices is expected to be the advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 5th Gen processor or a special version developed specifically for Galaxy.

When and Where to Expect the Announcement

The company is currently keeping the exact date of the summer Galaxy Unpacked event under wraps. However, industry media and analysts unanimously point to July 22, 2026. The location for the major announcement is expected to be London.

The Price Question

Regarding pricing policy, experts advise not to expect a reduction in technology costs. Given the significant design change of the base model and the high starting prices of key competitors in the market (specifically the Vivo X Fold 6 and Honor Magic V6), the cost of Samsung's new foldable devices may increase noticeably.

The split into standard and Ultra versions will also allow the company to set a higher price threshold for the top configuration to compete with Apple's future complex iPhone.
