Between July 13 and 19, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) continued a large-scale campaign aimed at reducing Russia's military-economic potential. During the operation, key strategic targets of the enemy were hit, marking another stage in the confrontation.

Destroying a Strategic Bomber

One of the main events was the strike on the Engels military airfield in the Saratov region. Long-range SBU drones covered a distance of about 800 kilometers to reach the target. As a result of the attack, a strategic Tu-95MS bomber was destroyed.

This aircraft was regularly used to deliver massive missile strikes on Ukrainian territory. During the attack, the aircraft sustained critical damage: the tail section was completely torn off, making its restoration impossible.

Context of Events

Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported on personnel changes in the leadership of the security services: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed a new Acting Head of the SBU. In addition, Major General Yevhen Khmara was appointed Acting Minister of Defense.
