The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in coordination with other Defense Forces units, carried out a large-scale series of strikes on key Russian military and fuel infrastructure facilities. The targets of the operation included oil refineries, fuel terminals, and military bases within Russia, as well as in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Attacks on industrial facilities in central Russia and the Leningrad region
One of the main directions of the strike was the Yaroslavl region. Drones hit the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery and the "Yaroslavl" dispatch station. According to eyewitnesses and monitoring services, explosions and heavy smoke were recorded in the area of the enterprise, indicating significant damage.
The Leningrad region also suffered significant losses. At the "Vyatsk" seaport, an oil terminal was hit. As a result of the attack, two storage units were taken out of service, and three tanks containing petroleum products were damaged. Additionally, drones attacked the "NOVATEK-Ust-Luga" refinery located in the settlement of Slobodka.
Damage to military facilities and infrastructure in Crimea
In addition to civilian industrial facilities, strikes were also carried out against purely military targets. In the Leningrad region, near the city of Luga, a permanent deployment point of the 26th Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was attacked.
A separate operation was conducted in temporarily occupied Crimea. At the "Gvardeyskoye" airfield, three hangars intended for storing aviation equipment were hit. Near Simferopol, a "Pantsir-S2" anti-aircraft missile system was targeted, and a mobile firing group was destroyed in Kerch. A storage tank and a pumping station at the "TES-Terminal-1" oil depot were also damaged.
Strategy of systematic destruction of resources
The head of the SBU stated that these actions are being carried out on the direct order of the President of Ukraine. "As long as the enemy shells Ukrainian peaceful cities, its military and fuel infrastructure will suffer tangible losses. We are systematically destroying the resources that fuel the Russian war machine, and this work will only intensify," he emphasized.
Recall that earlier, Ukraine successfully attacked eight of the ten largest Russian oil refineries. This has significantly reduced the capabilities of the aggressor country to process oil. According to Western publications, such as The Economist, Ukrainian long-range strikes have a significantly greater impact on Russia's economy and defense industry than previously assumed.
Journalists assess the scale of the campaign: during 2025, Ukraine launched 658 strikes on facilities located more than 100 kilometers from the state border. Statistics confirm the effectiveness of the strategy: in the spring, production at Russian refineries decreased by 15% compared to the same period of the previous year.
