Parents of first-graders in Ukraine will receive financial support under the "School Kit" program earlier than usual this year — even before the start of the school year. Payments are planned to be made during the summer so that families have time to prepare their children for school.

This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Denis Ulyutin, during the government's question-and-answer session. According to him, the mechanism for calculating payments is tied to the completion of the enrollment process for first-grade students.

Deadlines and mechanism for receiving payments

After July 10, the Ministry of Education will transfer data on the number of students starting their education this year to the Ministry of Social Policy. It is from this moment that the service will become available to parents.

"Funds will be credited depending on how quickly parents submit their application. Our goal is to credit the funds by the end of July – early August. This way, everyone will be able to receive payments in the summer and have time to prepare their children for the first grade," emphasized the head of the ministry.

The application process is maximally simplified through digital channels, which helps avoid queues and bureaucratic delays.

What the payment can be spent on

The "School Kit" program provides support for families whose children will be studying in an offline format. The received 5,000 hryvnias can be used to purchase:

  • children's clothing;
  • stationery;
  • footwear;
  • other necessary school supplies.

Last year, more than 200,000 children received the payment. Almost 99% of first-graders' families used it. Most spent the funds on clothing, stationery, and shoes.

Important details

We remind you that the payment under the "School Kit" program is not taken into account when assigning a subsidy. This means it will not affect the amount of other social payments that families may receive.
