Former Ukraine national team head coach Sergey Rebrov could have returned to the bench of Kyiv's Dynamo, but he declined an offer from the club's president, Ihor Surkis. This became known from the latest episode of the YouTube project "TaToTake," where journalist Mikhail Spivakovskiy revealed details of the negotiations between the specialist and the club's management.
Refusal of Lucrative Offers
The dialogue between Rebrov and Surkis took place immediately after the specialist left the post of national team coach. Despite having financial offers from the UAE and Saudi Arabia, he decided to put his career on hold. According to Spivakovskiy, the reason was family circumstances — Rebrov had a son and wanted to dedicate time to his family rather than coaching activities.
Pressure on Dynamo's Management
Spivakovskiy also debunked rumors about an urgent meeting between Ihor Surkis and the current Dynamo coach, Oleksandr Kostiuk, following the team's elimination from the Europa League qualifiers. However, the journalist emphasized that the Kyiv club's management is under serious pressure due to the approaching 100th anniversary of the club. Under such conditions, Surkis cannot allow the team to fail in European competitions and the championship.
"If Dynamo does not reach the group stage of the Conference League, there will be a change of coach," Spivakovskiy stated.
Dynamo's Upcoming Matches
In the third qualifying round of the Conference League, the Kyiv team will face Azerbaijani club Qarabağ. The matches will take place on August 6 and 13. In case of success, the Dynamo players will fight for the right to reach the group stage against the winner of the Twente — DAC 1904 tie.
Thus, the fate of Dynamo's coach directly depends on the results of the upcoming games. Meanwhile, Sergey Rebrov remains focused on his family and a creative break, declining new challenges in his coaching career.
