In the village of Lutorzyce, near the Polish city of Rzeszów, law enforcement authorities encountered a shocking case. On a plot of land previously owned by a forensic pathologist, the remains of 32 unborn children were discovered. The discovery came to light after workers conducting construction work stumbled upon human remains.
Cessation of work and start of investigation
As soon as the discovery was made, construction work was immediately halted. Investigators arrived at the scene to begin inspecting the area. The prosecution confirmed that 32 fetuses were found buried at various depths on the property. Medical materials and fragments of destroyed documentation were also discovered.
All found remains have been sent for forensic examination. Specialists will determine how long they have been in the soil, which will help clarify the circumstances of the case.
Arrest of the forensic pathologist
As part of the investigation, a 57-year-old forensic pathologist was detained. An interrogation was scheduled for Saturday; however, prior to this, the woman complained of deteriorating health and was hospitalized. Subsequently, she was brought to the prosecutor's office to conduct investigative actions.
According to the investigation, the detainee claims that during the COVID-19 pandemic, she took dead fetuses from the hospital to conduct medical research. After the research was completed, she stated that the remains were buried on the plot of land, which at that time was her property.
Charges and further actions
The doctor is expected to be charged with desecration of human remains and improper handling of medical materials. At the same time, the prosecution notes that the investigation is in its early stages, and all circumstances of the case are still being established.
Law enforcement officers continue to survey the area and are checking neighboring plots to determine if there are other possible burials or medical materials. This is important for a full understanding of the scale of what happened.
The case continues to develop, and new details may be revealed in the near future. Investigative authorities are doing everything possible to establish the full picture of what happened and to hold those responsible accountable.
