Eighty years after the birth of rock music's most famous "child of the era," the Lennon family has welcomed a new generation. Shon O'Neal Lennon — the only child of John Lennon and Yoko Ono — has become a father for the first time. Together with his 39-year-old partner Charlotte Kemp Muhl, a musician and model, he welcomed a son who was given the unusual name Aurelius. Shon announced the addition to the family on Tuesday, September 2. The musician posted photos of the newborn on social media and joked about the baby's arrival. "Charlotte and I would like to announce that we have indeed created a human! His name is Aurelius," he wrote. In one of the photos, Shon holds his son together with Charlotte, with the baby wrapped in a white blanket. He also shared a photo of the new mother in a hospital bed and his own shot with the little one.

Charlotte Kemp Muhl herself, who works both as a musician and a model, also shared photos from her first days of motherhood. In the frames, she carries Aurelius in a sling, walks with him by the water, holds a small crab, and cares for her sleeping son. "We created a human! I'm convinced that DNA is an agent alien quaternary code. Sleep deprivation only intensifies the sense of surrealism... I'm playing him Aphex Twin and Stravinsky. Meconium is something incredible," she captioned the photos.

John Lennon's First Grandson

The baby's birth was a special event for the entire Lennon family: Aurelius is the first grandson of the legendary member of The Beatles. Julian Lennon — John's eldest son from his first wife Cynthia — also reacted to the news. He left four heart emojis under the post, and in response Shon called him "Uncle Jules." Julian has no children of his own.

Shon is the only child of John and Yoko. He was born on October 9, 1975, in New York — on his father's 35th birthday. John Lennon was killed on December 8, 1980, when Shon was five years old. That same year, Lennon and Yoko released the album Double Fantasy, which included the song Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy), dedicated to their son and the anxieties of fatherhood.
