On August 14, 2026, a high-profile incident involving the use of firearms occurred in the center of Dnipro. A conflict that began inside one of the establishments in the Shevchenkivskyi district escalated into a street brawl with gunfire. As a result of the incident, injuries were sustained by both employees of a private security company and a random passerby — a 24-year-old man.
Timeline of events: from a fight to shots fired
According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police, the incident occurred around 22:45 on Magdeburg Rights Street. Initially, a verbal altercation arose between a group of men and the security staff of the establishment, which quickly escalated into a physical fight. The situation got out of hand when the conflicting parties moved the participants outside. It was in the open area that the perpetrators opened fire on the security guards, using non-lethal pistols.
Operational work and detention of suspects
Criminal police officers responded promptly to the incident. Thanks to the work of the investigative and operational group, the identities of all participants in the conflict were established. Law enforcement officers detained two men aged 29 and 31. During a search, non-lethal weapons used in the attack were seized from the detainees. They have currently been informed of suspicion of hooliganism (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, in early July, similar cases were recorded in Bila Tserkva and Lviv, where civilians used weapons against passersby and law enforcement officers.

At the same time, some regional media outlets mention that the 24-year-old man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, which requires clarification from the investigation, considering that the suspects used specifically non-lethal weapons.
