A serious scandal has erupted in aviation circles involving political pressure on civil aviation. A passenger aircraft of the Israeli airline Israir Airlines, heading to the capital of Slovenia, was forcibly diverted. Instead of the planned landing at Ljubljana Airport, the airliner was forced to urgently seek an alternative landing site in neighboring Croatia.

Refusal of Landing and Violation of Agreements

According to data obtained from The Times of Israel, the decision to refuse landing was made by the controllers of the Slovenian airport. The crew was denied the right to land, forcing the pilots to urgently change their route. The airliner successfully landed on Croatian territory, but the incident itself provoked a stormy reaction in Israel.

The director of Israir Airlines, Uri Sirkis, called the actions of the Slovenian authorities illegal. In his opinion, the refusal to service the flight is an outright violation of aviation agreements operating within the framework of the European Union. Official Ljubljana, in turn, confirmed that the step was taken consciously as a form of political protest against the actions of the Israeli government.

Diplomatic Conflict and Threats

The situation escalated into a diplomatic crisis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel attempted to resolve the conflict in real-time, but the negotiations yielded no results. Slovenian authorities took a hard line, stating that they refuse to allow landing to any Israeli carriers due to disagreement with the political course of Jerusalem.

Israeli diplomats called what happened "absolutely unacceptable." The relevant ministry emphasized that political disagreements should not affect flight safety and civil aviation. The official representative of the department, Regev, noted that such actions directly affect Israeli citizens and warned that attempts to boycott through aviation will have consequences.

In Tel Aviv, it was stated that the country will use "all available tools" to protect its rights and does not intend to ignore the aviation blockade. At the moment, Slovenia is undergoing a period of political transformation and the formation of a new government, which, according to the Israeli side, demonstrates a hostile attitude.

Context of International Isolation

This incident occurs against the backdrop of increasing criticism of Israel's actions on the international stage. The country is increasingly accused of human rights violations in connection with the operation against militants in Lebanon. Recently, the United Nations put IDF fighters on a blacklist, placing them on par with war criminals from Hamas and the Russian army.

A sharp reaction also came from the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, who threatened to sever all ties with the head of the organization, António Guterres, and his office. The Slovenian demarche banning the plane from landing became another manifestation of the growing tension in relations between Israel and a number of Western countries.
