On July 14, the main session of entrance exams for PhD applicants began in Ukraine. Thousands of candidates started testing organized by the Ukrainian Center for Assessment of Education Quality (UCAEQ). Experts emphasize the importance of strictly adhering to regulations and preparing documents in time for unobstructed admission to the exam room.

Key admission rules and required documents

UCAEQ reminds that all current information regarding the date, time, and location of the tests is already posted in the participants' personal cabinets. To speed up the entry procedure into the testing point, applicants are strongly recommended to print the invitation pass in advance. Although the presence of a paper copy is not a mandatory requirement, its absence may delay the registration process.

Special attention should be paid to checking the exam sheet. Before starting work, it is necessary to ensure that the document contains:

  • Photo of the participant;
  • Signature of the responsible person;
  • Seal of the educational institution.

In case of loss of the original exam sheet, it is necessary to immediately contact the admissions committee of the university that conducted the applicant's registration.

Time limits and logistics

Exam organizers have established strict time limits. Admission to the testing point opens 30 minutes before the start of the session and closes 5 minutes before the start. After this time, entry into the classrooms is prohibited, and the applicant loses the opportunity to take the exam in the current session. This is why specialists advise planning the route in advance and accounting for possible delays on the road.

Additional session: participation conditions

For those who could not attend the main session for a valid reason, there is an opportunity to retake the exam within the framework of an additional session. To use this right, it is necessary to:

  • Submit an application to the regional center for assessment of education quality;
  • Provide a document confirming the validity of the reason for absence.

The deadline for submitting documents is limited to three calendar days from the date of the exam (including the day of testing). The decision on admission to the additional session is published in the participant's personal cabinet after reviewing the documents.

Prospects for changes in the testing system

Earlier, there were reports of plans to reform the structure of the Unified Entrance Exam (UEE) for admission to master's and PhD programs, which will come into force in 2026. Future applicants will take two blocks: a test of general academic competence and a foreign language test. For each block, the number of tasks, duration of execution, and grading system have already been determined.
