Residents of the capital region are warned of possible worsening weather conditions in the middle of the week. On the afternoon of August 3, a thunderstorm is expected over Kyiv and the Kyiv region, which could create serious difficulties for the energy infrastructure.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, meteorologists have recorded the probability of dangerous natural phenomena in the capital and the region. Extreme weather conditions can complicate the work of enterprises in the energy sector, which in the worst case threatens power outages.
Weather Forecast and Wind
Meteorologists forecast an increase in wind from variable directions with speeds of 3 to 8 meters per second. Combined with heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity, this creates increased load on power lines and substations.
Experts recommend that city residents be vigilant and ready for possible temporary power outages. Energy companies, in turn, will put services on high alert for the prompt elimination of possible accidents.
Debunking Weather Myths
Against the backdrop of real threats, unreliable data continues to spread on social media. Earlier, RBK-Ukraine wrote about fake information circulating on the internet: users discussed alleged abnormal heat up to +42 °C and even frost in August. Meteorologists officially refuted these scare stories, calling them fabrications.
Nevertheless, the weather in Ukraine in early August will indeed undergo noticeable changes. Strong heat is expected in several regions of the country, however, in the capital region, the priority on August 3 is thunderstorm activity and wind.
