A new round of diplomatic battle has erupted in the halls of the UN Security Council. The United States of America made a sharp statement assessing the current course of the conflict in Ukraine as a complete strategic failure for Russia. The American side called on the international community to react more harshly to the actions of Moscow and its allies.
Situation Assessment: From Failure to Catastrophe
American diplomat Dan Negrea, speaking before the members of the UN Security Council, did not resort to ambiguous formulations. According to him, Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has not achieved its stated goals. The diplomat pointed to specific signs of crisis in the Russian economy and military logistics, noting that Russia's oil refineries are under attack.
"Russia's invasion of Ukraine has become a strategic failure. Its oil refineries are on fire. Moscow cannot achieve its goals on the battlefield," Negrea stated. He warned that any attempts to escalate the conflict will not change the outcome but will only increase the risk of a humanitarian catastrophe. Concluding his speech, the US representative demanded an immediate end to the war.
Pressure on Allies: Iran and Cuba
Special attention in the speech of the American diplomat was paid to countries that, according to Washington, continue to support the Kremlin's war machine. Iran and Cuba were among those called upon to cease assistance.
Regarding Tehran, accusations were voiced regarding the supply of drones used to attack Ukrainian territory. In the case of Havana, the US pointed to the country's role as a transit hub for mercenaries. According to the American side, Cuba allows thousands of mercenaries to fight on the side of Russia. Washington demanded that both countries immediately stop this support.
Diplomatic Background and Negotiation Processes
The statement at the UN came against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic contacts surrounding the settlement of the conflict. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed negotiations with special representatives of former US President Donald Trump — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The parties discussed details that remain confidential, but the very fact of the dialogue indicates a search for new ways out of the crisis.
Meanwhile, in Europe, particularly in Germany, it is stated that the negotiation process is gaining momentum. However, Western experts emphasize that only two factors can force Vladimir Putin to sit at the negotiating table: a strong Ukraine and real pressure on the Russian side.
