On the night of June 10, the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched a series of strikes against strategic targets in the enemy's rear. The targets included a navigation systems plant, an oil refinery in Samara, and a vessel belonging to Russia's 'shadow fleet' in the Black Sea. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Damage to the chemical tanker
One of the key results of the night operation was the damage to the tanker WEST Horizon. According to intelligence data, the vessel received a direct hit on its propeller and rudder assembly, completely depriving it of the ability to move independently. WEST Horizon is a large chemical tanker with a deadweight of over 50,000 tons.
The vessel is under sanctions from the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Australia. These measures were introduced for its participation in the export of Russian oil in violation of international price cap prohibitions. The owner of the vessel is the Turkish company Beks, which is part of the business group of entrepreneur Ali Bekmezci.
The vessel's operational history confirms its involvement in sanction evasion schemes. The tanker has repeatedly visited Russian ports, including Novorossiysk, Tuapse, and St. Petersburg. To conceal real routes and cargo, the vessel's crew turned off the AIS transponder several times, which is standard practice for the 'shadow fleet'.
Destruction of arsenals in the Leningrad Region
In addition to maritime targets, strikes were launched against land-based objects. As a result of the reconnaissance of the arsenal hit on June 6 in the Bolshaya Izhora area of the Leningrad Region, the destruction of 18 ground ammunition storage facilities and three open sites was confirmed. A powerful secondary detonation was recorded during the attack, indicating critical damage to the warehouses.
Strategic context of the strikes
Attacks on enemy infrastructure are systematic. Previously, 'Flamingo' missiles struck a plant in Cheboksary, which produces critical components for drones and missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the success of this operation.
Experts note that comprehensive strikes against logistical hubs, including bridges on the approaches to Crimea, significantly complicate the supply of occupation troops. The combination of fuel supply problems and the destruction of ammunition depots directly affects the combat effectiveness of the enemy grouping.
