A quiet evening in Kherson was shattered for one family by the terrifying wail of sirens and the roar of explosions. On Wednesday, May 27, Russian occupiers struck a peaceful district of the city, turning a place of children's play into a battlefield. As is often the case in this war, the target was not a strategic object, but an ordinary playground.

The Price of Helplessness

The attack occurred at 5:30 PM. Russian military forces used a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) against the Korabelny district. At that moment, parents with children were resting on the playground. The result was tragic: a man was killed, and three civilians, including a mother with her two young daughters, sustained severe injuries.

Yaroslav Shanko, Head of the Medical Administration of the Kherson region, confirmed that a 36-year-old woman with children aged 6 and 3 was hit. All three suffered blast injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds. They are currently under close observation by doctors fighting for their lives.

Chronicle of Pain

The situation in the city remains tense. Alexander Prokudin, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported the death of a man whose identity is being established. Another victim, a 50-year-old resident, sustained a closed traumatic brain injury, concussion, and a shrapnel wound to his leg.

This incident is just part of a large-scale attack launched against Ukraine. On the same day, strikes also hit the Odesa district, where residential buildings, a "Nova Poshta" branch, and a store were damaged. There, 11 people were injured, including two children.

War in the Air

In the north of the country, in Chernihiv, explosions also occurred. A drone attack led to damage to one of the enterprises. In total, during the night of May 27, the enemy launched 163 drones over Ukrainian territory. Air defense forces, working at the limit of their capabilities, shot down 150 of them, preventing many from reaching their targets.
