On the morning of July 10, the city of Konotop in the Sumy region became the target of a Russian attack. According to RBK-Ukraine, two Shahed-type cruise missiles were launched at the settlement. The attack resulted in casualties and significant destruction in the city center.
Casualty and damaged facilities
Konotop Mayor Artem Semenyhin confirmed the strike and reported on the injured. As a result of the shelling, a 70-year-old man was wounded. Key social facilities were also damaged: a school, a hospital, and heating plants.
"We have a hit in the city center. There is a wounded man, 70 years old. The school, hospital, and heating plants are damaged..." — the city head wrote on his social media.

Semenyhin published photos from the scene. The frames show building damage, shattered windows, and debris scattered across the streets. The strike hit the city center directly, exacerbating the scale of destruction.
General context of the night attack
The attack on Konotop occurred as part of a massive strike launched by Russia against Ukraine on the night of July 10. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched 137 attack drones. Air defense forces managed to shoot down or suppress 114 of them. However, 18 drones broke through and hit 16 different locations across the country.
Awaiting new air defense systems
On the eve, July 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the country would receive a new package of missiles for Patriot air defense systems from the US in the coming days. Additional PAC-3 missile supplies with European partners are also being discussed, although specific delivery dates have not yet been determined.
