Deep in the Russian rear, in the Voronezh region, an incident occurred that could seriously complicate the operation of the railway infrastructure. According to the 'ATESH' unit, their agents successfully carried out a sabotage act, resulting in the destruction of a unique specimen of RZD recovery equipment.

Destruction of strategic equipment

The sabotage was carried out directly at the railway station. The target of the operation was a heavy recovery crane of the EDK-300/5 series. This equipment is a rare and complex-to-manufacture mechanism designed for emergency recovery work on the tracks.

According to technical specifications, the EDK-300/5 crane is capable of lifting loads weighing up to 300 tons. It is precisely such machines that are necessary to eliminate the consequences of serious accidents, lift trains from the rails, and restore the capacity of highways in the shortest possible time.

Critical shortage of equipment

The 'ATESH' unit emphasized that this model has already been discontinued, and RZD has only a few units of such cranes left. The destruction of one of them creates a serious shortage in the emergency response system.

"Replacing the destroyed crane will require significant time and resources," the movement's statement says. While RZD management and the military are looking for ways to make up for the loss, the railway hub in the region is forced to operate with a limited recovery reserve. This means that in the event of a major accident on the tracks, the elimination of consequences will be delayed.

Part of a general strategy

The authors of the operation note that even in the deep rear, critical equipment is not insured against destruction. This attack is part of an ongoing campaign to destabilize the enemy's logistics.

Previously, at the end of May, 'ATESH' reported other successful operations by their agents:

  • In Novorossiysk, agents helped blind the air defense system, which allowed the Ukrainian army to strike the largest oil storage facility in the Caucasus.
  • In the Lipetsk region, electric locomotive equipment was destroyed, which disrupted the transfer of military cargo to the Sumy direction.

As a rule, it is precisely such locomotives that are used to transport ammunition, fuel, weapons, and heavy equipment. Strikes on recovery equipment and locomotives together create an effect of accumulating problems for Russian military logistics.
