The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in coordination with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate, has carried out a large-scale operation on Russian territory. According to the agency, strikes were launched against a number of strategically important military and logistical facilities that support the activities of the Russian armed forces.
Information about the strikes was released by the SBU in its Telegram channel and confirmed by the RBC-Ukraine publication. As a result of the attacks, facilities in the Leningrad and Krasnodar regions were damaged, including key supply hubs for the navy and the army.
Explosions in the Leningrad Region
One of the main targets was the 15th Armory of the Russian Navy in the Leningrad region. Following the strike, a fire broke out at the site, followed by a series of secondary detonations. According to the SBU, the armory warehouses stored missiles and ammunition.
Reports of a possible evacuation of residents of nearby settlements due to the fire have appeared in local chats.
The second target in the region was the Kronstadt Naval Base, as well as the Kronstadt Shipyard. Fires were recorded in the vicinity of these facilities. The SBU emphasizes that these objects are critical for supporting the activities of Russia's naval group in the Baltic Sea, as they are used for repairs and ammunition storage.
Attack on Logistics in Krasnodar Krai
A separate target of the operation was the "Ust-Labinsk" oil depot in Krasnodar Krai. Following a series of explosions, a massive fire broke out at the facility. According to the SBU, the fire engulfed at least three tanks containing petroleum products.
"This oil depot is an important rear hub for the storage and supply of fuel for Russian troops on the southern and eastern fronts," the security service noted in its statement.
Strategic Consequences
The SBU stated that taking the damaged facilities out of service deals a serious blow to the enemy's logistics. Agency experts believe that this complicates the work of Russian military personnel, reduces the combat readiness of the navy, and limits Russia's ability to operate in the Baltic region.
It is worth noting that such operations are of a prolonged nature. On the night of June 6, Ukrainian drones already attacked the Russian Baltic Fleet's "Kronstadt" naval base near St. Petersburg. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the drones traveled about 1,000 km to strike Russian Navy armories and the base in Kronstadt.
