Strategic objects of the Russian oil industry remain in the focus of Ukrainian intelligence and special services. A new strike on the Slavyansk oil refinery became part of a large-scale 40-day operation aimed at weakening the resources supporting the Russian war machine.
Joint Operation: SBU, Drones, and Intelligence
According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the strike on the enterprise was carried out by fighters of the SBU Special Operations Center "Alpha" together with the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, and other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The operation was conducted within the framework of tasks set by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in the context of a 40-day campaign to influence Russia. The goal is the systematic defeat of military and strategic objects in the deep rear of the enemy.
Slavyansk Oil Refinery: A Key Hub in Russia's Rear
The Slavyansk Oil Refinery is located in the city of Slavyansk-na-Kubani, more than 300 kilometers from the state border of Ukraine. It is one of the key enterprises of the Krasnodar Krai, producing gasoline, fuel oil, marine fuel, and other petroleum products. Part of the production is exported through Black Sea ports.
Consequences of the Strike: Fires and Destruction
According to SBU information, after the attack, fires arose in the area of the oil tank farm, the petroleum products warehouse, and the primary oil processing unit. This caused serious damage to the plant's infrastructure and its production capabilities.
Zelenskyy: The Price of Aggression is Rising
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that such strikes weaken resources working for the Russian war machine. The SBU emphasized: "Russia must realize a simple pattern: the longer it wages an aggressive war against Ukraine, the higher the price of this aggression will be".
Previous Strikes: The June Attack
Recall that on the night of June 28, Ukrainian long-range drones struck two oil refineries in Russia at once — the Slavyansk in the Krasnodar Krai and the refinery in the Yaroslavl region. These actions became part of the strategy of systematic pressure on the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
Ukraine continues to demonstrate the ability to deliver pinpoint strikes on strategic objects in the deep rear, depriving the enemy of resources to continue the war. Operations of this scale are becoming more regular and effective.
