The night of July 6 turned out to be one of the heaviest for Ukraine in recent times. A massive attack by Russian forces led to extensive destruction in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Particular attention was drawn to the strike on the city of Vishneve, where not only residential buildings were damaged, but also objects of critical civilian infrastructure — specifically, the building of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service (STS) in the Kyiv region and an access point of the Bucha Tax Inspection.
Infrastructure Damage and Suspension of CDP Operations
As reported by the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the STS building in Vishneve suffered serious damage as a result of the strike. Reception of visitors has been temporarily suspended. However, citizens can seek services at any other nearest Center for Taxpayer Services (CTS).
Acting Chairman of the STS Lesya Karnaukh confirmed that the strike was directed at civilian infrastructure and residential buildings where civilians were present at night.
“Unfortunately, the homes of our employees from the Main Directorate of the STS in the Kyiv region, residing in Vishneve, have also been damaged. But the main thing is that none of the workers were injured,” Karnaukh emphasized.
Casualties and Consequences of the Attack
As a result of the night attack in Kyiv, 11 people were killed and another 46 were injured. Several residential buildings were destroyed in the capital. On July 7, Kyiv declared a day of mourning for the deceased.
The situation in Vishneve turned out to be even more severe. The strike destroyed almost five streets, and about 500 people were evacuated due to the threat of detonation. Dozens of houses were damaged, fires continue, and detonations are heard. According to the latest data, 26 people were injured, three of them are in critical condition, and another three have died.
Due to smoke, air quality in the city has deteriorated fivefold, creating additional health risks for residents.
Government Response and Service Operations
Lesya Karnaukh expressed condolences to all those affected by the attack: “Unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries. Sincere condolences to everyone who lost loved ones today. And a speedy recovery to the injured.”
On the sites of impact, the consequences of the enemy attack continue to be documented. The Tax Service continues to provide services for taxpayers through alternative access points, despite the damage to one of the key facilities in Vishneve.
Events of recent days once again remind us of how vulnerable Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure remains under the conditions of the ongoing war. At the same time, state services are trying to minimize the consequences for the population and ensure continuity of operations even in the most difficult conditions.
