On the night of July 9, Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of large-scale strikes on Russian fuel and energy infrastructure objects. The attacks targeted facilities supporting the oil complex and the Kremlin's military machine. Official confirmation of the operation was given by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Strikes on Oil Depots Deep Inside Russia
As the President of Ukraine reported, Ukrainian drones covered significant distances, reaching targets approximately 500 km from the front line. As a result of the successful work of the intelligence services, two strategically important oil depots were hit — in Stavropol and Tver.
Representatives of the SBU confirmed that large-scale fires broke out at the facilities following the attacks. According to the intelligence service, both depots perform critically important functions: they handle the receipt, storage, and distribution of automotive gasoline and diesel fuel necessary for the operation of logistics and transport.
Attacks at Distances Up to 1500 Kilometers
The operational actions of Ukrainian units were not limited to the near zone. Reserve fuel storage facilities located approximately 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border were also attacked.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid special attention to the strike on the oil pumping station in Ufa. The facility is located almost 1500 kilometers from the border, demonstrating the ability of the Defense Forces to strike deep into enemy territory. In addition, an oil terminal in the Rostov region, located just 200 kilometers from the front line, was also hit.
Kyiv's Position and the Context of the Conflict
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the military for the results of the operation and emphasized the strategic goal of such actions. According to him, every day of prolonging the war should bring the "feeling of war" to where it started — to the territory of Russia.
These events are taking place against the background of intensifying confrontation in the field of unmanned technologies. It was previously reported that Russia intends to jam the Starlink satellite network to thwart Ukrainian attacks. At the same time, the Ukrainian side continues active actions: over the past week, the Defense Forces have struck 50 energy nodes in temporarily occupied Crimea and in southern Ukraine.
