Russian armed forces have intensified strikes on the fuel infrastructure of the Sumy region. According to the regional military administration, the goal of these attacks is to destabilize logistics and create social tension. However, despite the intensity of the shelling, the situation in the region remains under control.
Oleg Hryhorov, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, confirmed that all gas stations in the region continue to operate in normal mode. No fuel shortage has been recorded to date.
Protecting Critical Infrastructure
Authorities emphasize that enemy strikes are aimed at disrupting the work of emergency and utility services that ensure the functioning of settlements. In this regard, heads of local communities have been instructed to keep the needs of critical services under constant control, plan resources in advance, and promptly replenish fuel reserves.
To minimize the consequences of attacks, authorities, together with fuel market operators, are implementing a number of safety measures:
- Preparation of mobile fuel storage facilities.
- Development of clear action algorithms for personnel during air raids.
- Development of backup supply options in case of critical destruction of stationary gas stations.
- Preparation of mechanisms for deploying mobile gas stations for uninterrupted supply.
The RMA leadership urges citizens to refuel in the usual manner and not to panic.
Situation in Other Regions
Attacks on fuel infrastructure are systematic. Over the last 24 hours, strikes on gas stations have been recorded in several regions of Ukraine, including Sumy and Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the shelling, civilians were injured.
There is also a report of an incident in Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, where a gas station caught fire due to a Russian drone attack.
