On the night of July 9, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a large-scale operation aimed at undermining the military-economic potential of the Russian army. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian units launched synchronized strikes on key logistical hubs that supply fuel and ammunition to the aggressor's troop formations.
Attack on the Fleet in the Sea of Azov
Particular attention was paid to the waters of the Sea of Azov, where drones attacked several Russian naval vessels. These are tankers that perform a dual function: they supply the Russian army with fuel and lubricants and transport oil in circumvention of international sanctions.
Experts note that the export of hydrocarbons is one of the main sources of funding for military operations. The damage sustained by the ships during the attack could significantly disrupt these supply chains. Specialists are currently assessing the extent of the damage inflicted on the vessels.
Fire at the 'Yug Rus' Oil Terminal
A significant strike hit infrastructure in the Rostov region. A fire broke out at the 'Yug Rus' oil terminal in Bataysk. This facility plays a critical role in logistics: it is used to pump oil products for export and to fuel the Russian grouping in the southern direction.
The currency earned from fuel sales through this terminal is directly used to finance the war. The attack on 'Yug Rus' delivers a double blow — to both military logistics and the economic base of the conflict.
Strikes on Warehouses and Long-Range Targets
During the night operation, an ammunition depot in the Sorokino area of the Luhansk region was also hit. This deprives the enemy of reserves for continuing offensive operations.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously confirmed successful strikes on other strategic objects within the territory of the Russian Federation. The list of damaged targets included two oil depots in the Tver and Stavropol regions, as well as an oil pumping station in Ufa. All these objects are located at a significant distance from the border — from 500 to 1500 kilometers.
Additional Incidents in the Taganrog Bay
Parallel to the main strikes, drones attacked two more Russian tankers in the Taganrog Bay. Large-scale fires broke out on the vessels. The crews were evacuated in an emergency, however, one of the tankers continued to burn, creating a serious environmental threat to the waters.
