The Zaporizhzhia region has once again become a target for Russian strikes. Throughout the day, the city and surrounding areas were attacked using drones and aerial bombs. Residential quarters, civilian infrastructure facilities, and railway tracks were hit, resulting in casualties and destruction.
Morning: first strike on the city
Attacks began early in the morning. Russian forces struck a private residential house in Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the explosion, the building suffered serious damage. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, a 45-year-old woman was hospitalized for medical assistance.
Simultaneously, elements of railway infrastructure were damaged. During the incident, a 49-year-old man was injured. The situation in the city remained tense, as the threat of new strikes persisted.
Continued attacks and fires
Throughout the day, Russian troops continued shelling using unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the drones hit an infrastructure facility, which triggered a fire. Preliminary data indicates that there are also casualties from this incident, with the exact number still being clarified.
Tragedy in Balabino settlement
After 11:00, strikes shifted to the Balabino settlement, located five kilometers from the regional center. Russian forces used aerial bombs (KAB). According to Ivan Fedorov, the munitions fell in the immediate vicinity of a public transport stop.
This led to tragic consequences: three people at the stop were killed, and another woman was injured. The incident occurred during the day while people were waiting for transport.
Context of escalation
Attacks on Zaporizhzhia have been ongoing for several days. On the afternoon of June 6, the city was subjected to drone strikes. At that time, one of the munitions hit the roof of a supermarket, and a fire broke out in a neighboring residential building. As a result, a father and his 10-year-old son were injured: the child suffered a hand injury and was hospitalized, and the man also required medical assistance.
The situation in the region remains unstable, and civilian objects continue to be under threat.
