The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFO) has announced important changes to the procedure for assigning housing subsidies. Now, the right of households to receive state aid is determined immediately until April 30, 2027. This decision is designed to simplify life for citizens and reduce the bureaucratic burden; however, the mechanism of subsidies has undergone changes that every recipient needs to know about.
Automatic extension for the majority
The main news for Ukrainians is that the vast majority of recipients will not have to gather documents or stand in queues. The PFO emphasized that for most categories of citizens, the subsidy for the next period will be reassigned automatically. The system will analyze the data itself and extend the payment without the applicant's involvement.
Who must apply to the fund independently
Despite the automation of the process, there are exceptions. Certain categories of citizens will need to personally visit Pension Fund branches and submit an application to receive or extend the subsidy. If you belong to one of these categories, assistance will not be assigned without a personal visit to the institution.
Change of life circumstances
The rule of notifying the fund about changes remains critically important. If, after the subsidy is assigned, circumstances in the family change that could affect the right to receive assistance (for example, a change in family composition, income level, or housing conditions), this must be reported to the PFO. The law allocates 30 calendar days from the moment the changes occur for this.
Timely notification of the fund allows you to avoid overpayments and subsequent problems with returning funds. The situation with subsidies remains relevant against the backdrop of changing tariffs for utility services, including water, as well as in the context of other social payments, such as emergency reparations and payments for Independence Day.
