For most Ukrainians, the housing subsidy for the new period is processed automatically. However, for certain categories of citizens, this process does not work in the background: they must personally confirm their right to assistance. The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) warns: if you miss the deadline, payments may be assigned not from the start of the season, but only from the date of application submission.
Why it is important to meet the July 1 deadline
According to current rules, an application for the assignment or extension of a subsidy can be submitted within two months after the start of the heating or non-heating season. In this case, the payment is assigned retroactively — from the first day of the corresponding season, but no earlier than the day the right to it arose.
Currently, the non-heating season is underway, which began on May 1. This means that citizens who require re-submission of documents have exactly two months to submit their application. The deadline is July 1. If documents are submitted later, the subsidy will be credited only from the moment of application, and citizens will lose funds for May and June.
Who is required to submit documents again
The PFU clarified that automatic re-assignment does not work in the following cases:
- The number of persons actually residing and registered in the housing does not match (fewer people actually reside there).
- Household members pay utility bills for rented housing.
- The family is claiming a subsidy for the purchase of liquefied gas, solid, or liquid stove fuel.
- The household includes internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have changed their place of residence.
- There have been changes in the family composition or in the list of paid housing and communal services.
In these situations, it is necessary to submit a new application and a declaration of income.
Where to apply for a subsidy
You can apply for the assignment or extension of the payment in several ways. Citizens can personally visit the service centers of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, apply to the Centers for Provision of Administrative Services (TSNAP), or through authorized representatives of local self-government bodies.
Additional payments for pensioners
In addition to housing subsidies, other support measures are in effect in Ukraine. Certain categories of pensioners are entitled to a supplement for special merits to the state. In particular, this concerns mothers who gave birth to five or more children and raised them to the age of six.
According to PFU data, in 2026, the amount of this monthly top-up will range from 908 to 1038 hryvnias. The specific amount depends on the size of the recipient's main pension.
