Ukrainians can expect classic summer weather in the coming days, which, however, comes with characteristic surprises. According to forecasts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMC), air temperatures will be comfortable, without scorching heat, but the sky will often be overcast with clouds preparing for thunderstorms.

Natalia Ptukha, Head of the Media Relations Department at UkrGMC, told RBC-Ukraine that the atmosphere remains unstable. This is due to changes in air currents, which are now coming mainly from the west and southwest, bringing summer temperature values.

Temperature regime: comfort instead of scorching heat

Thermometer readings are in a pleasant range. At night, temperatures will range from +11°C to +19°C, while during the day the air will warm up to +22...+29°C. These are ideal conditions for a summer holiday, when there is no need to hide from the scorching sun, but the cold is no longer felt either.

However, minor fluctuations are possible on the weekend. Tomorrow, June 6, in the western regions, and on Sunday, June 7, on the Right Bank, daytime temperatures may be slightly lower than expected due to the activity of the atmospheric front.

Precipitation map: where to expect rain and thunderstorms

The main feature of the weather in the coming days will be the movement of an atmospheric front, which will bring rain and thunderstorms. The weather will change dynamically, and precipitation will be local in nature.

The schedule of the front's movement is as follows:

  • June 6 (Saturday): Precipitation is expected in the western regions of the country.
  • June 6–7 (Saturday and Sunday): During the day, rain and thunderstorms will pass through Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Vinnytsia regions.
  • June 7 (Sunday): The front will shift to Chernivtsi and Odesa regions.

On these days, precipitation may not be just brief, but significant. Winds are not expected — air currents will be calm, although local wind gusts are possible during the thunderstorms themselves.

Forecast for the second half of the week

On Monday, the front will move to the Left Bank of Ukraine, where brief rain and thunderstorms are expected again. At the same time, the weather will stabilize in the western regions, and precipitation will cease.

On Tuesday, June 9, brief rain and thunderstorms are possible at night in the central regions, and during the day — locally across the country. On Wednesday, June 10, there will be fewer clouds, allowing the air to warm up more — locally up to +28°C.

After June 10, no radical changes are expected. The weather will remain summer-like with periodic brief precipitation, mainly during the daytime. The temperature background will remain: at night +10...+17°C, during the day +20...+27°C.

The benefit of rain for nature

Despite the fact that rain may interfere with weekend plans, meteorologists emphasize its importance for agriculture. The absence of scorching heat and the presence of periodic precipitation create favorable conditions for the development of vegetation. Warm air, rising upwards, forms cumulonimbus clouds, which bring such necessary moisture.

It is worth remembering that summer weather is always varied: it may be raining in one area, while the sun is shining in the neighboring one. Therefore, the forecast is always given for a territory, and the exact location of thunderstorm activity becomes clear only at the moment of the process itself.
