The Ukrainian media landscape and comedy fans have suffered a heavy loss: on October 13, 2026, Oleksandr Venedchuk, known to viewers as Venya from the "Veterans of Space Forces" (VKV) team, passed away at the age of 32. The tragic news shocked the Ukrainian show business community, the comedian's colleagues, and numerous fans who followed his creative path, battle against severe illnesses, and major life milestones. The young artist's death came as a shock, despite the fact that in recent years he openly spoke about serious health issues and neurosurgeries he underwent.
Path to Success and Triumph in the "League of Laughter"
Oleksandr Venedchuk began his creative journey in student humor, performing in the university KVN league of the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics alongside Vlad Kuran. Later, they joined forces with Artem Damnytskyi to create the vibrant team "Veterans of Space Forces." The team gained widespread popularity and nation-wide love thanks to the "League of Laughter" project. In 2019, VKV achieved a triumphant victory in the fifth season of the show under the mentorship of well-known actor Stanislav Boklan. Afterward, the comedians successfully developed their own YouTube channel, where Venya became a key face of popular projects like "Elias" and "Quiz," winning the hearts of millions of viewers with his charisma and sharp humor.
Battle with Illness and Complex Surgeries
Oleksandr's final years were overshadowed by serious health trials. In February 2025, he openly told subscribers that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage, severe seizures, and emergency neurosurgery, which was followed by a long rehabilitation period. Despite strict doctor prohibitions on filming, in the spring of that year, he found the strength to appear on air to see his devoted audience and colleagues. In September 2025, Venedchuk underwent a second complex surgery during which a titanium structure was installed, replacing a significant part of his skull. At the end of that year, he announced his departure from VKV to focus on personal streams on Twitch and other pursuits.
Happy Changes and Sudden Departure
Despite health difficulties, the summer of 2026 brought a joyful event to the comedian's life: in June, he announced his marriage to his long-time beloved Karina Ustymenko, with whom he had been in a relationship since 2018. Just over four months passed from this bright event to the tragic news of his death. The "Veterans of Space Forces" team confirmed the loss of their friend, launching a fundraiser to support his family. Prominent Ukrainian cultural figures, hosts, and bloggers, including Masha Efrosinina and Ramina Eshakzai, expressed deep condolences, remembering his unrealized plans, creative potential, and bright energy that will forever remain in the memory of Ukrainian viewers.
