Ukraine is entering a period of sharp weather change. On June 12, a powerful atmospheric front will sweep across the country, promising not only heavy precipitation but also a noticeable drop in temperatures. Meteorologists warn that the weather will become contrasting, and in some regions — potentially dangerous.
Experts describe the coming 24 hours as a time of a "luxurious spectrum of meteorological phenomena." As synoptic meteorologist Natalka Didenko notes, the atmospheric front moving from the west will give Ukrainians "synoptic colorful candies".
Geography of Bad Weather: From Showers to Cooling
The main impact of the elements will fall on the western regions of the country. It is there, as the cold front advances, that the most significant cooling is expected. Rain, which is forecast nationwide, may turn into heavy downpours in some areas.
The temperature contrast on Friday will be noticeable. Despite the fact that on average in most regions the air will warm up to +24...+28°C, in the west the thermometer columns will drop. The situation in Kyiv will also change: the capital is expected to have rain and thunderstorms. The meteorologist advises being attentive, as precipitation may be short-term but very intense.
"We are not afraid of thunderstorms, but the downpour may be heavy," warns the specialist. In the capital, the temperature will also become "a bit more restrained" due to the approaching cold front.
Weekend Forecast: Moderate Summer
After the passage of the front, on Saturday and Sunday (June 13-14), the air will freshen up in most regions of Ukraine. According to Didenko, the temperature will drop by several more degrees.
The synoptician concludes that one should not count on strong heat in the coming days. Instead of scorching heat, Ukrainians are in for a "moderate beautiful summer".
