The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, held a strategic meeting dedicated to reserve issues and strengthening defense on the northern front. As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to radically change the border defense tactics: the main emphasis will be placed on the mass implementation of unmanned systems.
Creation of new drone units
To ensure the security of the northern border, a decision was made to form specialized unmanned systems units. New military units will be equipped with the necessary weapons and modern equipment. At the same time, units already operating in this sector will continue to enhance their combat capabilities.
Syrsky emphasized that expanding the unmanned component will significantly improve the capabilities of units in three key areas:
- Conducting effective reconnaissance;
- Precision strikes against the enemy;
- Protection of areas of responsibility.
Sergeants as the foundation of combat readiness
Special attention was paid at the meeting to the development of the sergeant corps. Oleksandr Syrsky noted that it is the sergeants who are the foundation of unit combat readiness and the most important link between the command and the enlisted personnel.
According to the commander, future commanders should be formed from among soldiers who have already proven their effectiveness in combat conditions, possess leadership qualities, and enjoy authority among their comrades.
Logistics and recovery
During the session, Syrsky heard reports on the restoration of combat readiness of units after completing combat tasks, as well as on their supply with new weapons and equipment. The commander emphasized that supplying units with everything necessary remains one of the key priorities of the army.
Situation on the border: change in enemy tactics
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), there is a decrease in the activity of sabotage-reconnaissance groups on the border with Russia. The enemy has shifted the focus from sabotage to creating a buffer zone with infantry forces.
Nevertheless, the threat remains. The SBGS does not rule out provocations from Belarus in the direction of Kyiv and the western regions of Ukraine. The service's press secretary, Andriy Demchenko, reminded that similar scenarios were already implemented in 2022, so vigilance should not be lowered.
