Periodically, rumors of disagreements between the security bloc and the civilian leadership surface within the Ukrainian military department. However, in a recent interview with the TSN channel, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, clarified the situation, stating that there is no serious conflict.

According to Syrsky, the relationship between the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense is built on a clear division of functions. Each side performs its own part of the work, and this does not lead to systemic problems.

Working contradictions instead of conflict

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that he fully supports the position of the Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov: 'We have no conflict. Everyone performs their duties, everyone has their own tasks. The Ministry of Defense has its tasks, the General Staff has its tasks'.

Nevertheless, Syrsky acknowledged that situations requiring additional coordination arise during the work process. According to him, this is normal practice for any complex management mechanism.

'Yes, periodically some questions, some contradictions arise, which are discussed and resolved. The questions mainly concern powers: where they intersect and how they need to be resolved,' he explained.

Joint reforms

Despite the presence of working points requiring clarification, the departments demonstrate the ability to cooperate effectively. Syrsky noted that the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense are jointly implementing a number of important reforms.

In particular, the parties are coordinating efforts in the following areas:

  • Changing the procedure for military service;
  • Optimizing the staffing of positions;
  • Increasing the monetary allowance for military personnel.

Earlier, Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov also confirmed the existence of working disagreements, noting that they concern the distribution of powers, financing issues, and material support for the army. However, as follows from Syrsky's words, these issues are being resolved in a working manner and do not affect the overall effectiveness of the command.
