In recent days, one of the most significant events in the world of rhythmic gymnastics has been unfolding in Frankfurt, Germany — the 2026 World Championships. For the Ukrainian national team, this tournament holds strategic importance, as three unnamed licenses for the 2030 Olympic Games will be awarded here. August 13 marked a turning point for 18-year-old Ukrainian gymnast Taisiia Onofriichuk, who managed to overcome the qualification barrier and advance to her first individual final at the current tournament.

Drama in the Clubs Exercise

Onofriichuk's performance in the clubs qualification took place under extreme tension. The athlete had to fight for every tenth of a point to avoid missing her chance for the final. Ultimately, the judges awarded her mastery a score of 28.25 points. This result allowed the Ukrainian to take eighth place in the final qualification standings, which was literally the last ticket to the final stage. Any mistake could have cost her a spot in the tournament's elite.

Her teammate, Polina Karika, demonstrated a 22nd result in this discipline, scoring 26.60 points. In the ribbon exercises, both Ukrainian athletes failed to make it into the top eight: Karika finished her performances in 20th place (26.55 points), while Onofriichuk ended up in 24th position with a score of 26.25 points.
