The 2026 World Championships proved to be a highly mixed event for the Ukrainian gymnast. Mistakes in the qualification round prevented Onofriychuk from advancing to the ball and ribbon finals, which dealt a serious blow to her tournament strategy. In the individual all-around, the athlete finished fourth, falling just short of the podium and, particularly painfully, just short of the first named qualification spot for the Los Angeles Olympic Games. After a week-long vacation that allowed her to recover from the emotionally intense World Championships, Taisiia has already resumed training. The next major start of the season is scheduled for September 12–13 in Brno, Czech Republic, where the Grand Prix final stage will take place. Then, in October, the Aeon Cup club World Championship will be held in Japan, in which Onofriychuk also plans to compete. Both tournaments will serve as important checkpoints before the winter preparation block.
Preparation for the New Season: Updating Routines and the Fight for an Olympic License
Together with head coach Iryna Deryuhina, the gymnast plans to update at least two routines — the hoop and ribbons — by January. As the athlete herself noted in the interview, these two apparatuses will be the priority when revising the choreography and musical accompaniment. In parallel, Onofriychuk will continue fighting for a named Olympic license at the World Cup series, since her fourth place in the all-around at the 2026 World Championships did not earn her an automatic berth to the Los Angeles Games.
