A temporary suspension of operations occurred at one of the key border crossing points on the state border between Ukraine and Moldova. At the "Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe" checkpoint, the processing of citizens and vehicles was halted due to a malfunction in the border guards' technical system.

Reason for the stop and operational resolution

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the State Border Guard Service, the incident led to a temporary cessation of border crossing operations. The agency confirmed that specialists immediately began to eliminate the malfunction to restore normal operating mode.

The situation was resolved quickly: by 19:20, border crossing operations at the checkpoint were fully restored. Currently, the border is functioning in normal mode, and there are no delays in crossing the border.

Recommendations for drivers and travelers

Despite the quick resolution of the glitch, border guards appealed to citizens with a recommendation to take into account possible technical difficulties when planning trips. In the event of similar situations in the future, specialists advise choosing alternative border crossing points.

The Moldovan Customs Service also issued recommendations for drivers planning transit. The agency advised calculating routes in advance and, if necessary, choosing other directions, in particular — the "Tudora" border crossing point.

Context: history of the checkpoint's operation

The "Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe" border crossing point is a strategically important transport hub. In December 2025, this checkpoint, along with other points on the border with Moldova, switched to a special operating mode. Then the reason was strikes on infrastructure on December 18-19, as a result of which a bridge near Maiaki was destroyed. This event made travel in the direction of Odesa practically impossible during that period.

Today's incident, related to a software failure, showed the vulnerability of digital systems, however, the operational response of the services allowed to minimize the impact on traffic flow.
