The Ukrainian military is at a crossroads where the outcome of hostilities increasingly depends on the speed of the technological response to the enemy's threats. Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, identified a number of critical problems requiring immediate resolution in his Facebook post. According to him, the current situation on the front is characterized by a serious lag in the development of key countermeasures, which directly affects the effectiveness of defense.
The Problem of Guided Aerial Bombs
One of the main destructive factors facing Ukrainian troops remains the lack of serial countermeasures against guided aerial bombs (KAB). Beskrestnov emphasizes that it is these munitions that create the most serious problems on the front lines. Despite the obvious necessity, mass protection systems against KAB have not yet been deployed in sufficient volume, leaving positions and infrastructure vulnerable.
Escalation in the Sphere of Electronic Warfare
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the enemy significantly outpaces the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the development of electronic warfare (EW) means aimed at suppressing the video channels of drones. Furthermore, Russia is actively implementing MESH modems for reconnaissance and strikes. The Defense Minister's advisor notes that Ukraine is "unacceptably slow" in creating similar solutions, creating a technological gap in favor of the aggressor.
Vulnerability of Frontline Cities
A serious problem remains the lack of protection for major frontline centers — Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy — from regular drone attacks. To solve this task, it is necessary to implement new warning systems and effective anti-drone measures. Beskrestnov points out that for interceptors to work fully, a significant expansion of radar field density is required. This implies increasing the number of tactical radars and developing a systematic approach to detecting and destroying enemy stations that serve as the enemy's "frontline eyes" in the sky.
Priorities: From Ballistics to Aviation Protection
Among the strategic tasks, Beskrestnov highlights the development of its own ballistic missile. In his belief, the appearance of such a weapon is capable of radically changing the course of the war. It is also critically important to create solutions for alternative navigation when delivering deep strikes, which will allow operations to continue under conditions of satellite signal suppression.
Separate attention is paid to the protection of its own aviation. The advisor emphasizes the need to create means of protecting medium attack aircraft and bombers from enemy anti-aircraft drones. "If we do not create them, it will become very difficult to work soon," he warned.
Context: New Terror Methods and Countermeasures
Previously, Serhiy Beskrestnov analyzed the consequences of turning off repeaters in Belarus. He noted that this decision will not stop "Shahed" type drone attacks on Kyiv and western regions, but will significantly change their nature and complicate navigation for the enemy's targets.
In addition, new methods of attack by the Russian Federation have been recorded recently. In particular, attempts to attack the Ukrainian coast using unmanned boats equipped with "Starlink" satellite communication terminals were detected. Ukrainian military personnel timely identified and destroyed these threats far from the coastline, preventing possible destruction.
