Restoration of urban infrastructure has begun at the 'Lukyanivska' metro station in Kyiv. After the underground passage in this area was damaged as a result of a Russian Federation attack, city authorities decided to organize a temporary ground-level pedestrian crossing. This measure is designed to ensure the safety of residents and uninterrupted movement of people in the area affected by the shelling.
Technical challenges and stages of work
The restoration process is not limited to simply installing railings. For the temporary crossing to function fully, it is necessary to mount special consoles and connect the power supply. It is precisely these technical nuances that require additional time. At the moment, active preparatory work is underway at the site.
According to information from the city administration, the traffic organization scheme has already been coordinated with the Kyiv Patrol Police Department. As soon as this stage is completed, municipal workers will begin applying road markings and installing the necessary road structures by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCCA).
Pedestrian safety
The main goal of creating a temporary crossing is to ensure the safety of pedestrian movement. The temporary structure will be located near a public transport stop, making it critically important for residents of the area. The KCCA clarified that upon completion of the installation of all components and connection of power, the crossing will become regulated, which will allow for the control of pedestrian and vehicle flow.
Consequences of the night attack
The need for such urgent measures arose after a massive attack by the Russian Federation on Kyiv, carried out on the night of July 19. As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure in several districts of the capital was damaged, in particular, the area near the 'Lukyanivska' metro station. At that time, damage to residential buildings was recorded in the city and fires broke out, which required an immediate response from emergency services and a review of traffic logistics in the affected zones.
