The Ukrainian sports community has been shaken by a tragic event. On June 8, Alexander Tyngaev passed away — a renowned sports commentator, host, and soldier. His heart stopped in the intensive care unit, where medical staff fought until the very end to save the journalist's life following a horrific accident that occurred the day before.

Information about the tragedy is confirmed by RBK-Ukraine, citing an official notification from his colleagues at Champion Radio.

Fatal Mistake During Leisure

The tragedy unfolded on Thursday, June 4, while Alexander was on vacation. While fishing, he accidentally hooked a high-voltage power line with his fishing rod. As a result of the incident, the commentator received a powerful electric shock.

The victim was urgently transported to a burn center in critical condition. The diagnosis was terrifying: the journalist had burns covering more than 90% of his body surface. Despite the doctors doing everything possible in the intensive care unit for several days, the injuries proved incompatible with life. The 46-year-old professional passed away.

From Poltava to Champion Radio

Alexander Tyngaev possessed colossal experience in the media industry. His path in sports journalism began at the age of 17 in his native Poltava region. His real television breakthrough came in 2004, when he started working as a TV commentator for leading Ukrainian channels.

The peak of Tyngaev's popularity arrived in the summer of 2008. It was then that he emotionally and professionally commented on UEFA Euro matches for Ukrainian fans. In recent years, he focused on radio broadcasting, becoming an analyst and host of sports programs. He joined the Champion Radio team from its very first day of broadcasting and became the true soul of the collective.

His unique voice accompanied fans during live broadcasts of football, basketball, and hockey matches. Alexander hosted popular projects such as "Big Sports Show," "Big Sports Weekend," "Eurofan," and "Champions Club."

Heroism on the Frontline

With the start of the full-scale invasion, the famous journalist did not hesitate to exchange his civilian profession for a weapon. In 2022, Alexander Tyngaev voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He courageously fulfilled his military duty, defending the sovereignty and independence of the state on difficult sections of the front in the east of the country.
