Veterans of the war in Ukraine are entitled to special pension conditions. The state has provided this category of citizens not only with higher payments and special allowances but also with the possibility of retiring earlier than the established term.

Calculation formula and state guarantees

The basic pension amount is formed from two key components: insurance seniority and the salary from which the person paid contributions. However, special rules apply to participants in combat operations. If, after all calculations, the final amount turns out to be lower than the state minimum, the difference is covered by monthly targeted assistance. This means that a participant in combat operations is guaranteed not to receive less than what the state establishes.

Advantages in seniority calculation

One of the main advantages for veterans is the unique procedure for crediting time served in the combat zone. It is counted towards seniority in a 1:3 ratio. That is, one year spent in the combat zone is equivalent to three years of regular work experience. This significantly increases the final coefficient and, consequently, the pension amount.

Pensions for veterans with disabilities

A separate procedure for calculating payments applies to veterans with disabilities. The amount of the benefit depends directly on the disability group and the reason for its establishment. If the disability arose for other reasons not related to combat operations, the payments amount to 70%, 60%, and 40% of the basic amount, respectively.

Who retires before the term

The state has provided for several categories of beneficiaries who have the right to retire before the age of 60. War veterans are included in this list along with other population groups. Earlier, RBK-Ukraine already told who exactly can use this right.

Meanwhile, the issue of minimum payments remains relevant in the country. Earlier, the publication wrote about which Ukrainians receive a pension of more than 300 hryvnias. These are the minimum payments that some pensioners currently receive who do not have sufficient seniority or other benefits.
