On July 8, Ukraine is expected to experience a sharp change in weather. Forecasters predict widespread thunderstorms, hail, and strong wind gusts across almost the entire country. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

Atmospheric front from Europe

The cause of the deteriorating weather conditions will be an active atmospheric front moving in from Western Europe. The phenomenon is linked to a cyclone located over the Baltic Sea. Behind the front, colder air will arrive from the west, leading to significant cooling in several regions.

The most noticeable temperature changes are expected in the western regions, the Vinnytsia region, and most northern areas. There, daytime temperatures will be several degrees lower compared to the rest of the country.

What meteorologists predict

According to the forecast, dangerous meteorological phenomena will be observed almost everywhere on the day of July 8, with the exception of the western and far eastern regions. Forecasters warn of the following risks:

  • Short-term rains of varying intensity.
  • Powerful lightning discharges.
  • Hail and squally wind gusts up to 15–20 meters per second.

Special attention should be paid to the southern, central, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, where the most significant precipitation and squalls are predicted. Only in the southeast of the country are no precipitations expected at night.

Temperature regime and wind

The wind will blow predominantly from the southwest and west at speeds of 7–12 meters per second. However, during the day in the western and northern regions, strong gusts up to 15–20 meters per second are possible. A sharp drop in atmospheric pressure and fluctuations in humidity are also expected.

The temperature background on the night of July 8 will range from +14 to +19 degrees. During the day, the air will warm up to +24...+29 degrees. The exception is the western, Vinnytsia, and northern regions, where due to the arrival of cold air, thermometers will show only +19...+24 degrees.

Fire hazard

In addition to weather anomalies, a high level of fire danger remains in the country. From July 7 to 9, an emergency level is in effect in most regions. This means that the risk of fires remains critically high, despite the predicted rains.

Recall that in recent days, Ukraine has observed a change in weather regimes: following abnormal heat, when thermometers showed record values, rainy weather with more moderate temperature readings has arrived.
