Svetlana Tihanovskaya, the leader of the Belarusian opposition, personally visited the site of a Russian missile strike in Kyiv. The visit prompted a sharp political assessment: she directly accused Alexander Lukashenko of complicity in the aggression.
The Price of Minsk’s Silence
According to Tihanovskaya, the Kremlin is attempting to break the will of Ukrainians by using fear and night attacks. However, each explosion only exposes the true nature of a regime that disregards international law and human lives. Yet, according to the Belarusian activist, responsibility lies not only with Moscow.
“The Lukashenko regime bears its share of responsibility, as it allowed Belarusian territory to be used for aggression, launching missiles, and stationing Russian weapons,” she emphasized in her statement.
Pain Shared Together
Tihanovskaya addressed Belarusians, explaining the reasons behind their support for Ukraine. This is not political correctness, but genuine empathy: “We feel this pain as our own.” She highlighted the courage of Ukrainians, stating that no missiles can break a people fighting for freedom and dignity.
Scale of the Tragedy
The visit took place against the backdrop of a large-scale attack that occurred on the night of May 24. Russia launched 90 missiles at Ukraine, including the “Oreshnik” ballistic missile, and more than 600 drones. Air defense forces intercepted a significant portion of the threats, but the main target — Kyiv — suffered serious damage.
According to the latest data, two people were killed in the strikes, 87 were injured, including three children. Damage was inflicted across all districts of the capital: residential buildings, schools, a food market near the Lukyanivska metro station, and cultural sites, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building and museums, were hit.
