Significant personnel changes have taken place in the Ukrainian government concerning the administration of the capital region. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has officially approved the candidacy of Timur Tkachenko for the position of Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration (RSA).
Information about the government's decision appeared in the Telegram channel of Taras Melnyk, the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada. Citing this publication, the event is reported by the RBC-Ukraine media outlet.
Who is Timur Tkachenko?
Timur Tkachenko is a figure well known in the context of managing Kyiv during wartime. Prior to his new appointment, he headed the Kyiv City Military Administration. However, he was previously relieved of this duty, which sparked discussions about his future career.
Now, following the government's approval of his candidacy, he is set to become the head of the Kyiv Regional Administration. Previously, this position was held by Nikolai Kalashnyk.
Stages of appointment
It is important to understand that the Cabinet of Ministers' decision is only the first step in the appointment procedure. Government approval of the candidate does not mean that Timur Tkachenko has officially taken office yet.
The next and decisive stage will be the decision of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is the head of state who must sign the decree appointing Timur Tkachenko as the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration. Only after the issuance of the relevant presidential decree will Tkachenko officially become the head of the Kyiv RSA.
