Ukrainian singer Tonia Matviienko, in an interview with the project 'Alone with Glamour,' spoke about the life of her 27-year-old daughter, Ulyana, who has been living in Germany for six months. The artist admitted that her daughter's decision to leave the country was driven by fear of Russian shelling.
New Life in Berlin
For a long time, Ulyana remained in Ukraine despite the full-scale war. However, a few months ago, she decided to leave. Currently, the young woman is living and working in Berlin. The singer herself describes the situation with the words: 'She is doing very well... It's a pity for me, but I try to meet with her more often.'
Family ties have not been severed by distance. Tonia Matviienko noted that they continue to maintain close contact. Recently, her daughter was even able to travel to Lviv to see her mother.
Reason for Leaving
The artist does not hide the true motives for the move. According to her, Ulyana feels like a refugee because, at some point, she became unbearably afraid for her safety. 'She just said at some point: "I can't take it anymore, I'm scared. I'm worried,"' Tonia shared.
Family History
The relationship between mother and daughter developed against the backdrop of the singer's own difficult past. Tonia gave birth to her eldest daughter at the age of 17. Her first marriage to a man seven years her senior lasted 10 years but ended in divorce. Her husband did not support his wife's musical ambitions, wanting her to devote herself entirely to the family. Tonia admitted that she was young at the time and 'didn't put him in his place in time,' but the main factor in their separation was the lack of love.
Today, the singer is happy in her union with musician Arsen Mirzoyan. The couple has been together for over a decade. In 2016, they had a daughter named Nina. The younger daughter was named after a legendary mother; however, as it later turned out, it was the husband who made that decision.
