Kyiv has released the first results of rescue operations following a massive attack carried out by Russian forces in the night of July 6. The number of fatalities resulting from the combined strike of missiles and attack drones has risen to 19. The most significant destruction has been recorded in the capital, as well as in the Kyiv region and the city of Vyshneve.
Situation in Darnytskyi District
In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, which became one of the epicenters of the tragedy, search and rescue operations have been completed. Rescuers extracted the bodies of 11 deceased from the rubble of a destroyed high-rise building. Among the victims are a 12-year-old boy and his mother, whose bodies were recovered during the night. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the information that 19 people were killed as a result of the enemy attack on the capital.
Searches continue in Pecherskyi District
The situation remains critical in the Pecherskyi district, where search and rescue operations are ongoing. There, the deaths of 8 people have already been confirmed. According to preliminary data, approximately ten more people could still be trapped under the rubble of the destroyed building in this district. Rescuers continue operations to extract bodies and search for survivors.
Casualties and consequences
In total, 76 people were injured as a result of the attack. 24 of them are in hospitals, including two children among the critically wounded. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that an entire family was killed as a result of the ballistic missile strike on Kyiv.
Day of Mourning
In connection with the tragic events, July 7 has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. Flags will be lowered in the city, and all entertainment events have been canceled. This decision underscores the scale of human losses and destruction inflicted on the capital.
