Cold War-style Rhetoric
In the run-up to the fall congressional elections in the US, Donald Trump has identified the main goal of his campaign: the fight against the Democratic Party. At the annual Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, the US President launched a sharp attack on his opponents, calling them 'godless communists'.
The speech took place at the Washington Hilton hotel, where Trump addressed religious conservatives. He accused the party establishment of capitulating to left-wing ideas and declared that Democrats have turned into a real communist party, rather than social democrats.
'The Most Serious Threat in 250 Years'
Later, the head of the White House expanded on his points on the social network Truth Social. He emphasized that Democrats represent 'die-hard godless communists' and are the most serious threat to the country since its founding.
Trump also added that communism is 'very easy to sell', noting that he himself could have become 'the most outstanding communist in history' if he had provided free housing and food. However, according to him, within two or three years, this would lead to the collapse of the country, suffering, and death.
Triggered by Elections in New York
As The Guardian notes, the reason for such statements was the results of the Democratic primaries in New York, where three left-wing candidates supported by socialist mayor Zoran Mamdani won. Trump called them 'very problematic people' who want to 'destroy the traditional American way of life' and resume the war against Christians, as well as promote 'transgender mutilation of children'.
New Passports and Tariff Extortion
Alongside domestic rhetoric, the Trump administration announced a concept for a limited release of passports dedicated to the US Independence Day anniversary. They will feature a portrait of the current president, which has already caused a scandal.
Furthermore, Trump has resumed the practice of customs pressure on European countries. He threatens to impose 100% tariffs on any goods from countries that levy a digital tax on American companies.
