The situation in the Middle East, which threatened to escalate into a full-scale military conflict, has taken an unexpected turn. US President Donald Trump officially announced the suspension of plans for a massive strike against Iran. The cancellation of the operation was due to diplomatic efforts by Tehran and regional countries, which appealed to Washington to refrain from an attack amid progress in negotiations.

Threat of a 'World War II-scale' strike

In his post on the social network Truth Social, the American leader revealed details of the situation. According to him, the US had already prepared to use military force on an unprecedented scale, unseen since World War II. Preparations for the operation were carried out in close coordination with Israel, which, according to Trump, supports the decision to cancel the attack for the sake of future peace.

Earlier, CBS News reported that the target of the planned operation could have been Iran's energy infrastructure. However, as Trump claims, the Iranian side and other regional states realized the seriousness of the threat and initiated dialogue.

Conditions for cancelling the attack

The cancellation of the military strike is not unconditional. Donald Trump emphasized that the decision was made under the strict condition of the need to conclude an agreement as soon as possible. In the text of the post, the US President outlined the key requirements that must be included in the future document:

  • Ensuring freedom of navigation and opening the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Complete elimination of the nuclear threat from Iran.

"I agreed, for the future good of peace, as well as the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack on the condition that we manage to quickly conclude an agreement," Trump wrote.

Iran's reaction and warnings

In Tehran, the information about the impending aggression was met with a harsh response. The Head of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, warned that in the event of new attacks by the US, the response would be on a large scale. Tehran threatened to strike the energy infrastructure of other countries involved in the conflict.

Araghchi specifically noted that retaliatory measures could be directed not only against American interests but also against states that participate in possible strikes against Iran.

Recommendations for US citizens

Despite the announcement of the cancellation of the strike, tension in the region remains high. The US Department of State issued a recommendation for American citizens in the Middle East. Official Washington advises considering the possibility of leaving the region or being prepared for emergency evacuation in case of further escalation of the situation.
