According to the head of the White House, the decision on stationing troops on the continent will largely depend on whether Washington manages to conclude a "very profitable deal" regarding the autonomous region of Denmark.

In a conversation with journalists, Trump noted that the final decision on the status of military bases has not yet been made. However, he clearly outlined his priorities: if the United States does not receive the desired guarantees or favorable terms regarding Greenland, the administration is ready to consider the option of withdrawing part of the troops from Europe.
This position fits into the president's overall strategy, who previously in private conversations discussed the possibility of reducing the American contingent in the Old World by about a third.
