Ukraine has already begun preparing for the new song season. The organizers of the National Selection for 'Eurovision 2027' have announced who will be in charge of the musical component of the contest: it will once again be Ukrainian musician and composer Dmytro Shurov, known by the pseudonym PianoBoy. As Wave RBC.UA reports, citing the 'Eurovision Ukraine' Instagram account, the producer is returning to work on the selection after a two-year break.

PianoBoy's Return After Two Years

Dmytro Shurov previously worked on the national selection in 2023 and 2024. As a result of those contests, Ukraine was represented on the international stage by the group TVORCHI with the song 'Heart of Steel' and the duo alyona alyona and Jerry Heil with the track 'Teresa & Maria'. Between these cycles, the musical part of the contest was handled by other specialists: in 2025 the national selection producer was Tina Karol, and in 2026 — Jamala. Now the organizers have once again entrusted the musical component to Shurov, signaling a bet on a proven team ahead of a stage that is important for the country's preparation.

Application Deadlines and the New Selection Format

The acceptance of applications for the National Selection began on 15 September 2026 and will run until 2 November 2026 inclusive. In this cycle, the organizers also plan to change the format of the contest: it will be adapted to the security situation in Ukraine and to possible challenges associated with the winter period. The name of the artist or group that will ultimately represent the country will be announced in February 2027.

Bulgaria, Burgas, and Canada's Debut

Next year the international song contest will be hosted by Bulgaria — for the first time in the country's history, its representative DARA won 'Eurovision 2026' with the song 'Bangaranga'. The contest is scheduled to take place in the resort city of Burgas on the Black Sea coast, with the venue being Arena Burgas. Another feature of 'Eurovision 2027' will be the participation of Canada: on 25 June, at a meeting in Prague, the Canadian broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada was granted full member status of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), opening the country's path into the contest. Canada will perform in one of the semi-finals and will compete for a place in the grand final.
