During a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the "Ramstein" format, UK Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis announced a new major package of military aid for Kyiv. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
The British side confirmed that the total cost of the new weapons package is £852 million. The funds are being allocated through a special credit system, with the source of financing being confiscated Russian assets.
What is included in the new aid package?
According to the British minister's statement, the support will be aimed at strengthening key areas of Ukraine's defense. The package includes:
- Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) of British domestic production;
- Missiles for air defense systems;
- Radar systems.
These supplies directly address the priorities previously voiced by the Ukrainian side, including strengthening anti-missile defense and purchasing drones.
"Limited window of opportunity"
Dan Jarvis emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that there is currently a "limited window of opportunity." According to him, Ukrainian military personnel are demonstrating exceptional morale and dedication, so their expectation of support from allies must be met immediately.
On the eve of the meeting, Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov also emphasized the need to strengthen air defense and obtain long-range artillery, which is due to constant massive attacks by Russia.
Partners' assessment of the situation
During the same meeting, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Vladimir Putin has reached a dead end. According to Berlin, the Russian army has suffered huge losses, and the Kremlin is increasingly realizing the negative consequences of the war for its own country.
Previously, following previous meetings, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported confirmation of funding from several countries, including Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK, for logistics, air defense, and drones. The new package from London continues this line of support.
