The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has released its updated ranking of men's national teams. In June 2025, the Ukrainian team maintained its position, securing the 32nd spot on the global list. This result was a consequence of the "blue and yellows'" successful performance in a recent friendly match against the Poland national team.
Victory over Poland and Rating Growth
The debut of the new head coach, Andrea Maldera, took place at the end of May. Under his leadership, the Ukrainian national team played a control match against the Poles, which ended in a convincing 2-0 victory. The goals were scored by Roman Yaremtchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko.
This victory allowed the team to earn additional points. Currently, the Ukrainian national team has 1549.29 points to its credit. The match winners, the Polish national team, conversely, dropped to 35th place in the table following the defeat.
Table Neighbors and the Next Target
In the updated list, Ukraine is positioned between Norway and Ivory Coast. The Norwegians, having accumulated 1555.60 points, occupy the 31st place, overtaking the Ukrainians. Following Ukraine is the Ivory Coast national team with a score of 1540.87 points.
Already on Sunday, June 7, Maldera's charges must undergo a serious test — they will play away against the Danish national team. The match will take place in the city of Odense and will start at 19:30 Kyiv time. It is worth noting that the Danes have left the top 20 in the current ranking and occupy the 21st position.
Global Changes in the Football World
The June FIFA update brought significant changes to the top of the table. The Argentine national team returned to the first place, displacing the French team from the summit, which now rounds out the top three. The reigning European champions, the Spaniards, held onto the second place.
Significant shifts also occurred in the lower part of the top 10: the Moroccan national team managed to overtake the Netherlands.
Rating History and Ukraine's Records
The system for ranking national teams was introduced in 1993. During its existence, the classification has undergone two major reforms in 2006 and 2018. After the latest update, the Elo rating, previously used to evaluate chess players, became the key indicator.
For the Ukrainian national team, the current indicators are within historical norms. The lowest position in history is 132nd place (September 1993), while the highest peak was demonstrated in February 2007, when the team rose to the 11th spot.
